Anything else you'd like to share with the world: I live in the Southwest in the Sonoran Desert at South Mountain. There are ancient Indian ruins everywhere you look. Phoenix itself is built on the ruins of an ancient Hoho'kam Village; some of the canal systems still in use date back thousands of years. The mountains in this area were once the tallest in the world; today you only see the eroded tips of their once grandeur. As erosion progressed over the eons, the granite sand filled in the valleys to make up the desert floor. The ancientness of the place takes hold of you and invites you in to explore and to dream.

Indiana

Name: Debra A. Kemp
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Book:The House of Pendragon I: The Firebrand ISBN: 1-59279-155-7 (electronic) and 1-59279-883-7 (trade paperback) Publisher: Amber Quill Press
Bio: Ever since seeing the movie Camelot as a teenager, Debra A. Kemp has wanted to write her own version of the Arthurian legends. She could hardly disobey King Arthur when he commanded: "Don't let it be forgot . . ." The idea of her main character was conceived that very night. She just wishes she could remember the specific date of that important moment in her life. But what started as an innocent evening at the cinema turned into Debra's obsession. She read everything she could find on the topic, slowly building her extensive Arthurian library and quirky collection of artwork, movies, toys and figurines.
Website: http://www.telltalepress.com/debrakemp.html
Interests and hobbies: Writing and reading keep me fairly busy. I love to research for my Pendragon series. Doesn't everyone get excited over a new book about Roman military/calavary training? But I also enjoy browsing secondhand and antique shops--always on the hunt for title or two to add to my massive collection. In short, I lead a rather quiet existence here in Indy, the Circle City.
Anything else you'd like to share with the world: I like to write my early drafts in longhand, using a fountain pen (blue ink, of course!) on colored legal pads. I usually have music as background as I work. What I listen to depends on the mood of the scene I'm writing. Most times Lin (my main character) has a lot of adolescent angst and anger, so the mood is best evoked in Heavy Metal such as Godsmack, Metallica and Soulfly. If I want a general feel for her time period (around 500 AD) I go for traditional Celtic/Irish/Scots music with lots of skirling pipes and throbbing bodrhans.

Mr. Vassallo was also an insurance investigator, founded his own investigation business, and now, in retirement, manages a horse farm in Kentucky. Tears and Tales recounts not only his personal battle with depression and cancer, but his touching fondness for animals, large and small. He is a five star writer.

He has trail ridden in several states, rescued animals in various circumstances and loves writing. Most of all, he enjoys helping people.
Anything else you'd like to share with the world: Tears and Tales was not written for profit, but it has helped people in despair, soldiers in foreign countries, people in hospitals, the elderly and infirmed, animal lovers trying to raise funds and readers who enjoy a good laugh or cry. As a child, Russ suffered from asthma, often bed-ridden for months. His only real friends were his tiny, metal soldiers and a Pomeranian named Palsy. Both occupied his hours and filled him with a sense of adventure. Bedridden and alone, he longed for faraway places and indeed he has traveled throughout the world. The adventure still lives with him.

Anything else you'd like to share with the world: I am advocating parental rights in children's medical care to help today's loving parents protect and keep custody of their ill children; and aide advocacy for students with special needs and ill people in general--these serious issues in American society have affected me personally. When doctors ask yes or no, parents should have the right to say no. I need all the help I can get, so please e-mail me if you're interested in this topic. I'd love to hear from parents and children who have been victimized by this power abuse in the American medical system. Thank you.

Name: Gail Fonda
Location: Beachwood, Ohio
Book: My Private Hell: Struggle & Survival ISBN: 1-4137-6082-1 Publisher: Publish America
Bio: I have been writing my entire life. The book is a combination memoir/self-help book about using regular, daily exercise to help alleviate the pressures of life, including the emotional and physical side effects of anxiety, stress, depression, even hot flashes and high blood pressure. Everywhere we read about the growing problem of obesity among both children and adults in American society. We can only guess the multitude of reasons. People eat too much, smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol and simply overindulge in many ways. All of these things are self-defeating, destructive behaviors. I spent most of my life shy, quiet, and, being a victim of a dysfunctional family, felt my life was doomed for never-ending failures.
Interests and hobbies: Whatever your limitations, some kind of movement will cheer you up. When I am not writing, working or exercising, I spend a lot of time with my Siberian Huskies. I found them recently with the help of Petfinder.com. I highly recommend that, as well, for any animal lovers out there. Dogs are also helpful with anxiety and depression. Just having them around is a pleasure.
Anything else you'd like to share with the world: Everyone has problems of some kind. That's just a part of life. But regular exercise improved my moods and lightened the load on my shoulders. I think exercise is mandatory for my existence, and it should be for everyone else, as well. Check out my book and find out for yourself!
